Soundtrack of My Life
I know you might be thinking, “Does Audriix only listen to Stampede all the time?” The answer is no! Just like you all, I love different types of music that inspire my own writing or are just fun to listen to.
Lately, I’ve been releasing a lot of music. Whether it’s my Status Change album, acoustic songs, or just writing new songs, music surrounds my life. Despite the fact that I spend a lot of time with my own music, I also spend a lot of time listening to tons of other artists’ music as well, both for fun and to get inspired for my own work.
I listen to a wide range of artists, genres, and styles. I even spend time listening to music that I’m not a huge fan of because I think it’s important to be educated about all the kinds of music out there. Even if a song isn’t my favorite, there still might be elements of it that I can draw from.
So, I thought it would be fun to share a playlist of some of my favorite songs that I listen to daily! Check them out to get a taste of what the soundtrack of my life sounds like.
As you can see, there’s quite a bit of variety in what I listen to. From pop artists to country singers to musical theatre and, of course, Disney, I love hearing different sounds and seeing the fantastic stories each song can tell.
My absolute favorite band of all time is One Direction (fingers crossed for a comeback!). From an early age, I’ve always been a die-hard boyband fan. In fact, at age 6 I was in my very first band, called “The Backstreet Girls,” obviously named after The Backstreet Boys. What draws me to the music of these pop boy bands is their incredibly catchy, melodic, big choruses. In my own writing, my goal is always to write a catchy enough chorus that by the time listeners finish hearing my song for the first time, they can sing along. 1D and BSB both accomplish this flawlessly in pretty much all of their songs. So, I start my playlist off with “Best Song Ever” by 1D, which may be the catchiest song ever. (There’s even a dance that goes along with it—you can find it on YouTube!). If you need to get pumped up, excited, happy, or feel like jumping up and down, this is the song for you!
A second artist to note who makes her way onto my playlist is the Queen of Pop herself, Taylor Swift. I’m a huge fan of her work, in particular her very detailed and visual storytelling. She writes songs that are very relatable, but at the same time so personal that nobody else could have written that story. I definitely try to match her level of storytelling in my work.
Music is a beautiful way to learn about the world and see it through the artists’ eyes. Whatever kind of mood you’re in, there’s a song for it. Whatever experience you’re going through, there’s a song that shows that someone else has gone through it, too. I hope that listeners can relate to the stories I tell in my music, just like the music of these incredible artists has done for me.
So, give my playlist a listen. Besides many pop artists, you’ll also find some Dear Evan Hansen, Granger Smith, Zac Efron, Linkin Park, and more. Tell me what you think about it, and of course, have fun!
